Pass out Study Island assignment sheets and explain. Lesson (Symmetry) 1. Introduction to transformations unit: examples from the tessellations of M.C. Escher 2. Pass out shape cut outs. Ask "How can you prove that each shape is symmetrical?" List student responses on whiteboard. 3. Journal entry: line and rotational symmetry 4. Explore BBC's "Symmetry" introduction on the SmartBoard. 5. Guided practice: "Line and Rotational Symmetry" worksheet, odds. Use manipulatives (die cut letters and transparency film) to prove line and rotational symmetry. 6. Independent practice and onetoone instruction as needed with "Line and Rotational Symmetry" worksheet, evens Homework Complete an XtraMath lesson.
