Students will complete Math Minute 1 from

*8th Grade Math Minutes*.

__Lesson__(Order of Operations)

1. Class cooperative game to review PEMDAS: http://www.learnalberta.ca/content/mejhm/index.html?l=0&ID1=AB.MATH.JR.NUMB& ID2=AB.MATH.JR.NUMB.INTE&lesson=html/object_interactives/order_of_operations/use_it.html

2. Teachers will answer questions about the "Order of Operations 2" homework worksheet.

3. Students will be given 10 minutes to work on order of operations task cards in cooperative groups.

4. The teacher will distribute XtraMath information and show students how to use the website. Students will write the teacher's email address, their username and password for XtraMath in the front of their planners.

5. Students will complete a brief quiz over order of operations.

Log into XtraMath. Complete one lesson.

The teacher will show class jobs list to students and ask volunteers to fill each position.

Students will complete Math Minute 1 from

*8th Grade Math Minutes*.

__Lesson__(Adding and Subtracting Integers)

1. The teacher will generate interest in the lesson by showing the "Integers Rap" video from YouTube.

2. The teacher will give each student a number line to put in the tools section of his/her binder.

3. Notes: definition of integers, integers addition and subtraction rules, and sample problems

4. Guided practice using SmartBoard, dry erase boards and markers

5. Students will play adding and subtracting integers war.

__Closing__

Students will watch the "Integer Addition & Subtraction Music Video" from YouTube. Students will have two minutes to discuss what they have learned today.

__Homework__

Students will complete the "Adding and Subtracting Integers" worksheet.

There will be a brief quiz over integers on Friday.

__Other__

Students will finish the order of operations quiz if they did not do so on Tuesday.

Students will complete several problems involving adding and subtracting integers.

Students will turn in homework to the homework tray.

__Lesson__(Multiplying and Dividing Integers)

__1. The teacher will review the rules for adding and subtracting integers.__

2. Journal entry: rules for multiplying and dividing integers, and sample problems

3. The teacher will give each student a multiplication chart to put in his/her binder. The teacher will demonstrate how to use a multiplication chart.

4. Guided practice with dry erase boards and markers: multiplying and dividing integers

Students will complete a sampling of integers problems in their math journals.

__Lesson__(Integers Stations and Quiz)

1. The teacher will review rules for adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying integers.

2. Students will participate in a math stations activity circulating around the room completing integers task cards. The teacher will meet with individual students and small groups to go over the homework and provide additional guided practice as needed. Students will self-check completed task cards answer sheets against the teacher key after showing the teacher their completed sheets.

3. Students will take a brief integers quiz.
